The Impressive Moon? 

The moon goes all around the earth in 27.32 days. And it spins around its axis at almost the same speed. So while it is revolving around the earth, it is also spinning at the same speed.The moon is facing the same face all the time. In fact, no man had ever seen the far side of the moon until a Russian probe went behind in 1959 and sent back photographs of the hidden half!

Did Mermaids Really Exist?

Much as we would like to believe in them, these fairy tale creatures were just that. Vivid manifestations of our imagination. Popular theory goes that, sailors saw creatures called manatees or sea cows and mistook them for women. They have a human-like facial appearance. So seen from distance, manatee might have sparked the mermaid legend!

Why are Clams Like Trees?

Because the no. of rings on their outer surface indicates how old they are. This discovery was made by Dr. Ida Thompson of Princeton University after ten years of research. Each year, the clam produces a ring on the outer shell. These annual rings are visible to the naked eye on the surf clam, but not on others like the quahog and the sea clam.

Can a Tree Give Directions?

If you ever get lost in the forest, take a hard look at the trees. In the northern hemisphere, the tree has more leaves on the southern side. The tops of the trees also lean to the south. The bark of the tree is lighter and brighter on the south side too. But the moss growing at the base of the tree will always point to north!! Take a hard look!
